Police in Tennessee say a man listed in a database as an Aryan Nations gang member shot an officer and is on the run.

Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch told news outlets the man opened fire on Officer David Williams with a shotgun Thursday night as Williams attempted to stop him for speeding.

Williams suffered a wound to his shoulder. The suspect is identified as 31-year-old Ronnie Lucas Wilson.

He was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s top 10 most wanted fugitives list shortly before 10am.

Rausch said the officer is not believed to have fired his weapon.

Authorities believe that Wilson is accompanied by 31-year-old Kristin Denise King, who also has been added to the most wanted list. Despite the designation, officers suspect that King’s life may be in danger.

Authorities recovered Wilson’s vehicle early Friday. Wilson is being sought on an attempted murder warrant.

‘Do not attempt to intervene. Let law enforcement handle this,’ Chief Rausch said, according to WKYC.

‘If he is going to take a shot at an officer, he’s not going to hesitate to shoot at anyone else. So we ask that folks if you see the vehicle, if you know this individual, then do not intervene. Call law enforcement and let us know where he is.’

Knoxville Police tweeted shortly before 8am Friday that Williams has been released from the hospital.

According to court filings, Wilson was convicted of aggravated burglary in 2011 and was sentenced to serve three years in a state prison.

Wilson is believed to member of Tennessee’s largest supremacist group, Aryan Nations, and is listed on a government database of known gang members.

Facebook photos also reveals that Wilson, who is ‘very familiar’ to local authorities, has a large swastika tattoo on his body as well as a Celtic cross with the words ‘White Pride Worldwide,’ according to The Knoxville News Sentinel.

The Anti Defamation League notes that Aryan Nations ‘borrows its name from the older neo-Nazi group of the same name but is a completely separate group.’
