A Massachusetts fugitive has been arrested in Reno on federal warrants accusing him of multiple counts of raping and assaulting children.
The U.S. Marshals Service says federal agents arrested 42-year-old Daniel Escalante Sunday evening near the baggage area at Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
Escalante was being held without bail Monday in the Washoe County jail awaiting extradition back to Massachusetts, where he is on the state police most wanted list.
Prosecutors in Massachusetts will work with Nevada authorities to arrange his return to Massachusetts.
He’s wanted on five counts of child rape with force, two counts of assault to rape a child and four counts of indecent assault and battery against a child younger than 14 years old.
