KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT/WKYT) – A man suspected of shooting a Knoxville Police Department officer Thursday night in is still on the run.

Ronnie Lucas Wilson was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Top 10 Most Wanted list Friday morning. Wilson is wanted by the Knoxville Police and the TBI to face a charge of attempted first degree murder of a police officer. A reward of up to $2,500 was offered for information leading to Wilson’s arrest.

“Do not attempt to intervene,” Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch said when asked what people should do if they spot the suspect. “Let law enforcement handle this. If he is going to take a shot at an officer, he won’t hesitate to shoot at someone else.”

Officer Jay Williams was in the middle of a traffic stop when police say Wilson fired his weapon from inside his car.

Williams was transported to UT Medical Center to treat a gunshot wound to the shoulder, where he was later released Friday morning.

According to 911 dispatchers, Wilson’s black mid 70s model Chevrolet Nova with a red stripe on the hood was found abandoned Friday morning in Knoxville.

Law enforcement agencies across the state are still searching for Wilson. He is considered to be armed and dangerous. According to Knoxville Police, Wilson is a known member of the Aryan Nation gang.
