SAN ANTONIO —
Agents with the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force took one person into custody following a shooting outside an East Side apartment complex on Friday.
According to U.S. Marshal Carlos Alvarado, agents received information that Peter Carrion, a wanted fugitive, was in the area of North Hackberry and Hays Street on Friday at about noon.
“He was wanted for the charge of aggravated assault so the task force showed up here and located Carrion and a weapon was brandished,” said Alvarado.
Agents say several shots were fired
“A couple shots were fired by an officer,” said Alvarado.
It’s unclear who fired first but that’s what San Antonio police are looking into right now.
One of the children inside the apartment was Carrion’s cousin Joseph Flores.
“I woke up, I looked out the window and that’s when I saw about 20 cops right there in the front with guns pointing at the house,” said Flores.
The gunshots did not hit anyone and after a short standoff, Carrion came outside and was arrested.
Some of the suspect’s family members claim the task force fired shots without reason, endangering as many as six kids inside.
“He was shooting at nobody,” said Renee Carrion, the suspect’s sister. “I don’t care what kind of warrant it was. You don’t come inside nobody’s house and start shooting.”
Family members say Carrion’s cousin was detained by officers.
Agents say additional charges against Carrion are pending.
