NOVFTF LogoYoungstown, OH – Yesterday afternoon, the U.S. Marshals Service in Jacksonville, Florida arrested Owen Gunther, 52. Gunther was wanted by the U.S. Marshals and the Adult Parole Authority for nearly a year at the time of his arrest. Gunther was also featured as one of the ‘Dangerous Dozen’ U.S. Marshals Most Wanted in Northern Ohio.

Gunther was wanted for a parole violation stemming from a conviction of kidnapping and felonious assault. The case was immediately turned over to the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in Youngstown. The task force followed numerous leads throughout Northeast Ohio. However, those leads soon became stale until investigators tracked leads to locations in Northern Florida.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force in Youngstown worked with their counterparts in Florida to pinpoint Gunter’s location. Investigators determined that Gunther moved to Northern Florida, specifically Lake City, which is just west of Jacksonville. Members of the Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Gunther in the 700 block of Dexter Circle SW in Lake City.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott added, “This is a prime example of the teamwork and dedication our officers display on a daily basis from Youngstown to Northern Florida.”

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of a known fugitive is encouraged to contact the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at 1-866-4WANTED or Text keyword WANTED and tip to TIP411 (847411) Tipsters can remain anonymous and reward money is available.
