A fugitive on the run from police has posted gloating Facebook selfies of himself working out in the gym and partying at music festivals including Creamfields and the Ibiza Carnival.

Convicted robber Ryan McTighe even dared to flaunt his status as a Telegraph ‘Festive Fugitive’ by posting on the social networking site: “I haven’t even committed an offence”.

The 30-year-old, has been wanted since May by West Midlands Police for breaching the terms of his release from prison on temporary licence.

He was released on parole partway through a six-year sentence handed down over the 2011 robbery, in which a businessman was killed after delivering mobile phones to Wyken shop.

West Midlands Police named him as one of their most wanted suspects, and last week McTighe appeared as part of the Coventry Telegraph ’s ‘Festive Fugitives’ series, alongside other wanted suspects.

But underneath a Facebook post on the newspaper’s Facebook page, McTighe insisted: “I don’t appreciate being put in the same category as these people when I haven’t even committed an offence.”

His social media profile appears to point to an active social life, with McTighe enjoying trips to the Cheshire dance festival Creamfields, the Ibiza Carnival in Birmingham and the Electric Daisy Carnival at the Milton Keynes Bowl.

McTighe has also posted a string of selfies, including from the gym, but all the while police have wanted to put him back behind bars.

Businessman and dad-of-two Ali Jawaid was ambushed outside Benzer Communications, in Sewall Highway, Wyken, on November 9, 2011.

His attackers made off with his van and its £13,000 cargo of phones and accessories.

Two of the group – Gregg Robertson, who struck Mr Jawaid across the head with a metal bar, and Glenroy Blackstock – pounced as the father-of-two left the phone shop.

But the deadly robbery was instigated by Shaun Mills, who was in Benzer Communications to exchange his BlackBerry handset.

He contacted his fellow gang members via a series of phone calls after seeing Mr Jawaid put down his valuable stock on the counter.

McTighe admitted his role in the robbery after being arrested at Birmingham Airport the day after the robbery. Officers seized his mobile phone and around £1,300 in cash.

He was also jailed for conspiracy to rob in 2012 after security guards were targeted in an attempted robbery in Leamington in 2009.

Anyone who has seen McTighe or has any information regarding his whereabouts is urged to call West Midlands Police on 101, quoting 67/16/CV.

A spokesman for the force said: “As we move in to the festive period we are asking for the public’s help to catch a number of Coventry’s most wanted criminals.

“Some of these offenders have been on the run for years and are wanted in connection with serious crimes.

“We are urging anyone who has any clue, no matter how small, to their whereabouts to contact us immediately and in full confidence that we will act on all information that is offered.

“If you have seen any of these people or know where they are, please contact West Midlands Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
